Tiger Mitts by HIT N MOVE. A new species of coaching mitt.
The Speed of an Open Mitt. The Protection It Was Missing.
Tiger Mitts introduce a new approach to open-finger coaching mitts. Built around the patent-pending Tiger Grip, each finger rests inside its own protective chamber while the hand assumes a natural, slightly curved claw position.
Coaches retain the speed, freedom, and responsiveness they love about open mitts, while their fingers are better shielded from misplaced punches that could otherwise clip, bend, or jam them.

Why Coaches Love Tiger
- Protected Finger Chambers: Each finger is individually covered rather than left exposed around the striking surface.
- Faster Hand Movement: The compact claw position allows coaches to transition between targets quickly and fluidly.
- Natural Ergonomics: The mitt follows the hand’s naturally curved resting position instead of forcing the fingers to remain flat and spread.
- Reduced Hand Tension: Coaches do not have to constantly extend their fingers to keep the mitt open, supporting greater comfort during long sessions.
- More Confidence at Full Speed: With the fingers tucked away, coaches can focus on combinations, timing, and movement instead of worrying about catching a misplaced punch.
Born Inside Fortune Gym
The idea for Tiger began while HIT N MOVE founder Ozzie Akcakaya was training with Justin Fortune, founder of the renowned Fortune Gym and a longtime member of Manny Pacquiao’s training team.
Justin liked HIT N MOVE’s Turtle Mitts, but after decades of coaching, he was accustomed to the freedom and speed of traditional open-finger mitts. He repeatedly asked Ozzie to create an open-finger version for him.
Ozzie made one—but as the boxer hitting the mitts, he immediately recognized the problem. Justin’s fingers were exposed. Whenever the combinations became faster, Ozzie found himself becoming more cautious, knowing that one slightly misplaced punch could catch or jam his coach’s fingers.

Born Inside Fortune Gym
- The speed was there. The protection was not.
- One day, Ozzie discussed the problem with his father.
- “Why do so many coaches love open-finger mitts?” Ozzie asked. “I understand the speed, but their fingers are completely exposed.”
- His father answered with a simple question:
- “Why don’t you create chambers where they can hide their fingers?”
- Ozzie paused.
- “You mean positioning the hand almost like a claw?”
- “Exactly. Like a claw.”
That conversation became the beginning of Tiger.
Ozzie started drawing, developing, and refining a mitt that placed each finger inside an individual protective chamber. The hand naturally curved around the back of the mitt like a tiger’s claw—compact, controlled, and ready to move.
During development, they noticed something else: the claw position did not only help protect the fingers. It also made the coach’s hand feel quicker.
Try it yourself. Hold your hands completely open and alternate them rapidly in a one-two rhythm. Then lightly curve your fingers into a relaxed claw and repeat. You may immediately feel how much more compact and effortless the movement becomes.
That natural movement is the principle behind Tiger.
Traditional open mitts made coaches choose between speed and finger protection. Tiger was created so they would no longer have to.
