Dart (DR-T) Padding is meticulously designed using the principles of ergonomics to offer athletes acceleration. The story of Dart padding, also known as Dr-t by HIT N MOVE® is an interesting innovation. The founders with close working relationships with orthopedic surgeons, set out to develop a unique type of padding that could mimic the flight of a dart while providing effective performance and protection during strikes.

HIT N MOVE®‘s idea stemmed from understanding of the mechanics of punching and the similarities it shares with the motion of throwing a ball. Recognizing that the movement of punching involves the action of throwing a fist, HIT N MOVE® sought to create a padding solution that would not only protect the user but also exhibit characteristics of flight akin to a dart.

The Story of DR-T Padding: From Experience to Innovation

If you were training during COVID, you remember how things slowed down. The world got quieter. You had more time to think, to reflect—even on the small things.

That’s where Ozhan Akcakaya found himself. Training solo, staying sharp and eventually deciding to buy a new pair of gloves.

He started browsing—reading, comparing, looking into the options. And as he kept going, certain patterns started showing up. The same basic padding. The same complaints. The same designs repeated over and over.

With experience in the orthopedics industry, those flaws stood out more than most. The more he looked, the clearer it became: boxing gloves hadn’t evolved—and they weren’t built the way they should be.

That single search is where the idea of DR-T™ Padding started to take shape.

Single-Foam Gloves

One of the most noticeable issues he found was the huge popularity of single-foam gloves. Basically, a glove that is filled with one big piece of foam. So instead of quality gear designed to keep your vulnerable hands safe from the crushing impact of your power punches, these companies would rather sell you a big hand pillow.

Unfortunately, this style of padding has been the standard for decades. While they may have been revolutionary 50 years ago, today they carry massive downsides when compared to multi-layered gloves…

  • They compress quickly. Repeated impact flattens the foam, reducing protection.
  • They become stiff and unsafe. Once worn down, gloves stop absorbing force and start transferring it directly to the hand and wrist.
  • They lack layered response. With only one layer of padding, there’s no way to balance comfort, durability, and impact dispersion.
  • They degrade fast under real use. Sparring, bag work and high-output sessions wear them out quickly.

This outdated structure leaves serious fighters with gear that doesn’t hold up—and doesn’t match their performance needs.

The Invention of DR-T™ Padding

After seeing the limitations of traditional gloves, Ozhan gathered a team and began exploring how padding could do more than just protect. Drawing from experience in orthopedics and close collaboration with boxing professionals, they set out to engineer a system that worked with the mechanics of a punch—not against them.

That idea became DR-T™ Padding, short for “Dart.” The name wasn’t just for branding—it reflected the aerodynamic concept behind the design. Like a dart in flight, the padding was meant to move with precision, efficiency, and control. The inspiration came from recognizing that a punch shares mechanical similarities with throwing. Just as a dart or a ball follows a clean path through the air, so should a punch—if the glove is built right.

Why It Matters: Innovation in Every Round

DR-T wasn’t created to add features for the sake of features. It was built to solve real problems boxers face every day—gloves that break down, fail to protect, or limit performance.

Backed by practical testing and real-world experience, DR-T represents a shift from outdated padding systems to a new standard of thoughtful, function-first glove design. Built with the purpose of giving serious fighters an edge they can feel—not just on day one, but round after round.

Inside the Layers: What Makes DR-T Different

Unlike traditional gloves, DR-T uses a multi-layered padding system, with each layer engineered for a specific function—comfort, protection, structure, and durability.

Layer 1: Comfort ID Memory Foam

Engineered for comfort, this innermost layer is designed to be tight but plush allowing the custom ID memory foam to mold around your clenched fist after only 30 rounds on the bag.

Layer 2: DR-T Compressor

Designed for protection, this firmer section covers only the knuckle area of the gloves. Thanks to the special material used, this layer redirects the force of impact from your punch, bouncing it back into your target rather than letting it be absorbed by your joints and arm.

Layer 3: Resilient & Lightweight Sheet Foam

Added for durability, this resilient, lightweight sheet of thin foam acts as a cohesive layer, reinforcing the glove's structure and extending its lifespan by years.

Layer 4: 2 In-1 Optimised External Density Layer

Finally, the outer layer of foam features optimized density, allowing it to withstand bag work without deteriorating or flattening the glove. This ensures it remains safe for sparring, even after countless rounds on the bag.

To achieve this, team of HIT N MOVE® drew upon the knowledge of human bone weight distribution, particularly from the 4-inch wrist to the entire fist. By understanding this ratio and applying it to the design of the dart padding, HIT N MOVE® aimed to replicate the weight distribution within the human arm to optimize the padding’s balance and performance, aligning it with the natural mechanics of a punch.

Once They achieved the applied science of the human bone weight distribution ratio to the design of the dart padding, The founder and his boxing team rigorously tested the product to ensure its functionality and aerodynamic properties. Employing techniques such as slow-motion camera analysis, he observed the flight dynamics of the padding as it was thrown in the air. This meticulous testing process allowed him to confirm that the padding achieved an ideal aerodynamic and ergonomic weight distribution, aligning with the vision of creating a padding that not only protected but also emulated the flight of a dart.

Where You’ll Find DR-T Padding

All-Day Agility Training/Sparring Gloves

Designed for fighters who thrive on pressure, pace, and presence. These gloves offer compact form, tight control, and responsive feel that supports close-range styles. Ideal for those who cut off the ring, break rhythm, and stay in position to land

Designed for boxers who prioritize rhythm, movement, and timing. These gloves offer glove control and wrist stability that support footwork-heavy styles, keeping punches clean and transition smooth.

For athletes focused on conditioning and power development. The added weight of the glove challenges stamina and mechanics while the DR-T system maintains safety and hand health throughout high-volume training.
